Since 2007, the nexus Institute for Cooperation Management and Interdisciplinary Research has concentrated its core competencies in participatory methods in its Academy for Participatory Methods (APM).
The nexus Academy for Participatory Methods fosters a culture of participation by offering services in four main areas: Consultation and Conceptualization, Implementation and Moderation, Supervision and Evaluation, and Training and Coaching.
The APM’s services are ideally suited to the needs of people, groups, and organizations working in the fields of politics, administration, economics, citizenship, science, and education, and for all those who are interested in a culture of participation for the collaborative planning of the future.
What sets the nexus Academy for Participatory Methods apart is its ability to connect theory and practice. The APM both trains clients in participatory methods and helps clients implement these methods by combining academic expertise with years of diverse practical experience.
The various participatory methods we offer are deployable in many diverse sectors of society and suitable to many different thematic fields. They are applicable not only to political participation, but also in sectors of social relevance and every-day life, as well as in organizations. All of our methods have been tested in praxis and can be used alone or in combination, depending on the particular needs of the situation.
In addition to more established methods such as the so-called Planning Cells/Citizens’ Reports and Future Workshops, the nexus Academy for Participative Methods also deploys its own methods, including Citizens’ Exhibitions and the Salon Method, and a combination of face-to-face and online participation. All methods make use of the knowledge, experience, and creativity of the participants and focus on information, the formation of opinions, cooperative thinking, learning, and acting. These methods bring together groups of people with different perspectives and interests and make the development of collaborative and sustainable solutions possible.
